Adams French Vineyards

The historic Château Fonplégade is situated on Saint Emilion’s famous limestone plateau, just steps from the medieval streets and underground wine catacombs of the village of Saint Emilion. Recognizing Fonplégade’s world class provenance, Adams French Vineyards undertook a significant restoration project in 2004 to renovate the Château, upgrade the vineyards and install a state of the art winemaking facility.

The Wines
Château Fonplégade
Vinification : The wine underwent seven days of cold maceration with regular pump overs and light, twice-daily punch downs before fermentation, by block and by varietal, in new thermo-regulated tanks for 40-45 days. Secondary (malolactic) fermentation took place in barrel. The wine was aged for 24 months in exclusively new oak barrels; a selection from eight of France’s finest coopers.

Tasting Notes : An intense, full bodied and well defined wine with a dramatically long finish, Château Fonplégade possesses deep purple color, sweet notes of red and black fruits and a hint of both crushed rock and new oak.
Château Fleur de Fonplégade
Vinification : Comprised of a selection of younger blocks not used in Château Fonplégade, Fleur de Fonplégade was treated to the same vinification protocol. The wine underwent seven days of cold maceration with regular pump overs and light, twice-daily punch downs before fermentation, by block and by varietal, in new thermo-regulated tanks for 40-45 days. Secondary (malolactic) fermentation took place in barrel. The wine was aged for 24 months in exclusively new oak barrels; a selection from eight of France’s finest coopers.

Tasting Notes : Château Fleur de Fonplégade is a clean, well focused wine displaying abundant up front plum and red fruit flavors, medium body, fine-grained tannins and a bright, fruit-tinged finish.
